The Chav Sea

Was watching The Cruel Sea (1953) on Channel 4 yesterday and heard the line 'Just like them to chop about like a pair of brand new bints on Chatham High Street', and realised that the latest 'Chav' culture is older than you would think.

The line relates to the Gibraltar Run, on which the 'Compass Rose' is sailing, and is then joined by two older destroyers - The Chavs.

New Look

After a year or so I have got bored with my Blogs look, so what do you think?

Squirrels on Crack

Squirrels in Brixton are addicted to Crack because they are digging up stashes burried in parks and gardens.

I was told about this from a friend, so looked up the story on the web and found:

Guess The Haircare Product

Had great fun teaching some of my year 11's on Friday, whilst explaining the systems lifecycle, one of them correctly guessed the hair gell that I use. Do you think that they were not exactly concentrating?

Also have been messing around with Apache, PHP and DNS servers for Moodle - a teaching / resource environment - looks cool - see Moodle.Org

Also Sun Microsystems have put out a version of their LookingGlass 3D desktop environment - have tried it out - very very cool - see LookingGlass Demo and Developer Release

A good quip from a mate - A bloke walks in to a mechanics (auto repair shop) and asks for something to be fixed - the mechanic replies 'when do you want it done by?' - the bloke replies 'well, ummm, yesterday' - the mechanic replies 'that's a shame, we were really busy yeasterday, but today we could fit you in'.

What a week

Been back at work (school) a week and I do not know what has hit me, feels like the summer was only a rumour. Pupils did ok'ish in exams, but not as good as I would have hoped :-(

Found a funny website through ClickOnline on BBC News 24 - www.cyborgname.com.

Off to an Archery Competition tommorrow, have not done enough planning for the week yet, but should be ok for Monday. Especially now that PPA (Preparation Planning Assessment) time has kicked in, so I cannot be taken for cover and thus can work on the important things like lesson planning and marking.

I hope that '9/11' tomorrow is peaceful and uneventful.

Back to normal

Has been a very very tough couple of weeks. Had the funeral last wednesday, and finished clearing her bungalow today.

Archery has been bad, understandably.

Back to work in a matter of a week and a half. Going in for the GCSE results on Thursday, I hope that they have done well.

There is actually a world out there...

Been off from Teaching for a week and a bit now, as the summer holidays kick in.

Brain is becoming less burnt out and able to find funny stuff - see eyerocker's blog.

Have been catching up on all the stuff I taped but never had time to watch, and of course lots and lots of Archery :-)

Only a few weeks until the exam results are in, I hope that they all do well.
