The Chav Sea

Was watching The Cruel Sea (1953) on Channel 4 yesterday and heard the line 'Just like them to chop about like a pair of brand new bints on Chatham High Street', and realised that the latest 'Chav' culture is older than you would think.

The line relates to the Gibraltar Run, on which the 'Compass Rose' is sailing, and is then joined by two older destroyers - The Chavs.
