Not so good.

Did not shoot as well as I could have today. A lot on my mind with work and the things I needed to have done by yesterday, feeling a bit 'cold'ish too, could be the gloss paint that affects me, as was painting a new room in the club house on Saturday.

Need cheering up, so going to watch a bit of telly for a while before back to lesson planning and preparation.

Last Sunny Sunday

Archery today, did so so, 347 on a Long Metric (3 doz at 90m and 3 doz at 70m), only a second class and 21 points of a first class. The trouble is my mind is more on my teaching and everything else has to take a back seat.

But at least today was a lovely sunny day, I hope we have a few more before winter sets in.

William Somner Archery Tournament

Took part in this today. My very first competition, but only did a 'Hereford' instead of a 'York', so as a gent could not win anything :-(. I scored 780, which is ok, but 100 shy of a first class which is what I wanted to maintain. Still, it was good practice and I met some really nice fellow archers.

I was really nervious, and it took about 18 arrows to get into the swing of things, probably where I lost most of the points.

It only rained once, heavy but short.

I do wish I had done the longer distance, but that is what I had been put down for. I was hitting the target on Friday night at 100 yards, but it was hard going. Perhaps I would have done more harm than good to have attempted this at competition, despite my bruised ego. I have prepared long for this day, getting the right coloured trousers and working like no tommorrow to make sure that all my lesson planning for school was done by yesterday.

I now have the whole winter to practice before the British weather improves again sometime next April / May. I really want that 'Bowman'.

Archery Today

Did ok, back to around my normal form, which is good :-) after changing arrows, rest, tiller and knocking point. Was able to get 485 on a Long Metric One (3 doz 70 metres, 3 doz 60 metres). Have worked very hard for this, including most of Saturday doing school work.

Watched 'A Knights Tale' on Channel 4, cracking film.
