The end of term is comming
The end of term is coming, but the marking and the reports still need to be done. I have lots and lots to do, so bang goes the weekend because who will know what will happen in the week and needs to be corrected.
Starting to progress with new technologies at work - Wordpress is a good free blog, especially if you host it yourself - and then podcast with it - there is an add on media player that you can get, I just cannot remember the URL off the top of my mind. Audacity is useful for editing and saving MP3 recordings.
I recently visited an RM technical seminar the other day and explored some good Web 2.0 technologies, like this one. Web 2.0 is essentially the ability to give the user the capability to publish and interact on the web without knowing HTML etc.
Also have now been using e107 for hosting the school website - good and free :-).
Really getting into this new technology now. I have always been a Teccy in the traditional sense of the word - I know how to software engineer in Java, C++, C, COBOL, Pascal, Modula-2, BASIC, 68000 assembler and all the methodologies along with IPSE's that provide the environment. But this new stuff is different and cool.

End of term
The end of the term has arrived, and all that has begun has finished. All that was striven for has been achieved. All that was intended was completed. You feel the purpose become real, you realise the 'why', the 'need', you exist as a Teacher to fulfill a need and that need is real. Now and only now can you fully define why you do what you do and why the job is more than the money that it pays. You appreciate the precious life that you strive to nurture and keep safe. You understand the impact you have made and how it will never be forgotten. You understand how you have made somebody else happy and content.
It is a wonderful feeling.
